Gocek is a fabulous place from which to take a trip out aboard a gulet. Gocek bay is populated with a family of twelve picturesque islands spelling relaxing tranquillity and aesthetic delight. Many have sandy beaches, some with delightful restaurants, and some are historically significant.
Gocek is also well-placed to serve as a base from which to explore many of Turkey's most popular coastal places -- the Blue Lagoon of Oludeniz, the Greek ghost town of Kaya, the fabulous bay of Katranci and, of course, Dalyan, with its rock caves, healthy mud baths and turtles. The ancient Lycian capital Xanthos, dating from 1,200 BC is within striking distance and with it the Hidden Canyon, the breathtaking gorge gouged by the rushing waters of the Xanthos river.
